As part of the working visit to Ust-Kamenogorsk, the President of the National Academy of Sciences of RK Kunsulu Zakaria together with the delegation visited Ulba Metalurgical Plant. The fouenders of the enterprise organized for the arriving guests, among which was the rector of EKU Mukhtar Tolegen, an introductory excursion. As is known, the facility is angaged in the production of uranium, beryllium, tantalum, niobium, fluorine compounds and technical gases. The plant’s rich infrastructure includes power, service, testing and research centers, as well as a design and engineering institute and a nitrogen-hydrogen-oxygen station. This approach allows the metallurgical plant to be one of the three enterprises in the world with a full production cycle.

The delegation also visited the history museum of the “UMP” JSC. The chronology of the industrial giant of the country begins in 1949. It was then that the first product – thorium oxalate – was delivers to the warehouse.

The tour ended with familiarization with the exhibition showpieces of the production.
