President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kunsulu Zakaria visited the Research Center "Surface Engineering and Tribology" of S. Amanzholov EKU.

She got acquainted with the Start Up Academy of the university, as well as with the developments of the Research Center "Surface Engineering and Tribology": detonation spraying, metallization, electrolyte-plasma treatment.

She visited the Laboratories of nanostructuring and mechanical testing, 3D modeling and prototyping. EKU scientists told about the technology of obtaining ceramic composite coatings and development of technologies for applying multifunctional coatings based on thermoplastic polymers. It should be noted that the introduction of such wear-resistant coatings that increase the resource of parts and tools in production leads to the reduction of amortization costs. The developed technologies and composite coatings can find wide application in power engineering, mechanical engineering and other industries where wear-resistant and heat-resistant materials are used.

The scientific and production area "Tribo-Tech" was also presented. Where the employees apply the developed methods and technologies for processing, restoration and hardening of machine building parts.

Note that the mission of the Center is to create knowledge-intensive developments in the field of surface engineering and introduction of new developments in domestic industrial production, as well as the development of tribology in Kazakhstan. For the period of functioning of the Center for 2018-2024, the employees of the Center are implementing 13 projects with the support of grant funding and program-targeted funding of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for a total amount of 828 million tg.
