03.07.2023 WEBINAR ON "DIGITAL TOOLS FOR ANALYZING DEMOGRAPHIC DATA" SRC "Altaytanu" held the next national scientific and practical webinar from the cycle "Kazakhstan in the era of demographic change". The topic of discussion was "Digital tools for analyzing demographic data". Representatives of the scientific and expert community were presented digital maps of fertility and examples of using case technology to expand the capabilities of the method of cluster analysis. These materials are part of the results of the implementation of the grant project "Regional peculiarities of reproductive behavior of urban Kazakh women" (AP09260600). Zhanna Sakenovna Aubakirova, PhD in History, Associate Professor, Director of SRC "Altaytanu" and scientific supervisor of the project, made a keynote speech. In her detailed report she clearly showed what opportunities the application of modern digital technologies gives to researchers of socio-demographic processes. The presentation of the junior researcher of the project, doctoral student of Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic) Anton Alexandrovich Ivlev introduced the webinar participants to various programs of data visualization and analysis available to any modern specialist-researcher. Specific examples of dynamic graphs and maps were given, with the help of which it is possible not only to analyze data, but also, as the speaker noted, to "establish communication" with people who do not have much experience in demography. Visibility makes complex processes of development and formation of Kazakhstan's sovereign demographic system understandable for government officials, public activists and students, allows to see internal cause-and-effect relationships and more effectively build probabilistic forecasts. In the final part of the webinar, the chief researcher of SRC "Altaytanu", Doctor of Historical Sciences Alexander Nikolaevich Alekseenko raised a number of discussion issues, comparing European and Kazakhstani approaches to understanding and analyzing demographic processes. Thus, the conclusion of the webinar did not set the point, but determined the direction of further research using the latest digital tools.
