Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC)
Civil training program
Launched in 1964, the ITEC programme is a clear symbol of India's role and contribution to South-South cooperation and a fundamental pillar of India's foreign policy. Today, India offers more than 12,000 scholarships a year to 162 partner countries to study at 67 institutions under the ITEC programme, fully funded by the Government of India. The training programme covers a wide range of subjects in various sectors, including information technology, professional English, financial management, parliamentary studies, agricultural practices, remote sensing, environmental technology and renewable energy. Kazakhstan has been India's ITEC partner since 1992. Since then, about 1,250 citizens of Kazakhstan - 1,014 civilians and 236 military personnel - have benefited from training courses under the ITEC programme.
